The South Texas district offices of U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez are collecting handmade Valentine’s cards for local veterans as part of the 7th annual “Valentines for Veterans” initiative.
The card drive invites students and community members of all ages to create Valentine’s cards as a way to recognize and thank veterans for their service. Cards collected through the district offices will be distributed to veterans across the region following the deadline.
Completed cards must be dropped off by 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at one of three South Texas district office locations, including the office in Kingsville.
The Kingsville district office is located at 100 W. King Ave., Suite 106, and is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Keep in mind that appointments are required on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Additional drop-off locations include the Brownsville district office at 835 E. Levee St., Sixth Floor, and the Weslaco district office at 255 S. Kansas Ave. Both offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The effort is open to the public and is intended to provide a simple, seasonal way for residents to participate in a community-based show of appreciation for local veterans.
Residents seeking additional information about the card drive or district office hours may contact the congressional district office directly.
