Annual fundraiser supports programs, events and brings together donations from across Kingsville

The Friends of the Kleberg Library’s 2025 Winter Silent Auction is now underway, giving community members a chance to support the Robert J. Kleberg Public Library while bidding on an array of donated books, gift bundles and specialty items.
The fundraiser began Dec. 1 and continues through Dec. 22 at 4:30 p.m., offering nearly two more weeks for residents to participate. The twice-yearly auctions, held since summer 2018, help fund programs and events hosted by the library throughout the year.
“All donations come directly from the community,” said library staff members Jaziel Martinez and Julian Castaneda, who help coordinate the effort.
Past auctions have featured a vintage typewriter, themed gift bags, book bundles, and contributions from local businesses such as Spa Hacienda. All items in the current auction have been donated by local supporters.
All auction items are displayed in the glass case near the library’s front entrance, and every item begins at just 50 cents. All transactions are cash only, a long-standing tradition that helps keep the fundraiser simple and accessible for all patrons.
Bidding is available at the library’s circulation desk, where a dedicated binder lists all items up for auction. Patrons who cannot visit in person may call the library and ask for Martinez or Castaneda to place a bid on their behalf.
Winning bidders will be notified after the auction closes on Dec. 22 with instructions for item pickup.
How to Bid in the Winter Silent Auction
• Visit the library:
Stop by the circulation desk at the Robert J. Kleberg Public Library located at 220 N 4th St. in Kingsville, Tx. A binder with all auction items and bid sheets is available for in-person bidding.
• Call to place a bid:
If you can’t visit in person, call the library at 361- 592-6381 and ask for Jaziel or Julian to place your bid on your behalf.
• Starting bids & payment:
All items start at 50 cents, and all transactions are cash only.
• Auction dates:
Bidding is open Dec. 1–22, 2025 and closes promptly at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 22.
• After the auction:
Winning bidders will be notified when their items are ready for pickup.
