Chocolate 5K Run/Walk coming to Dick Kleberg Park on Feb. 14

By Kingsville Independent News Staff

If you’re looking for a fun way to spend Valentine’s morning, whether you’re a runner, a walker, or just in it for the chocolate, the annual Chocolate 5K Run/Walk is coming up Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, in Kingsville.

The event will take place at Dick Kleberg Park, starting and finishing near the BBQ Building located at 501 Santiago Park Lane. The race begins at 8 a.m. and is open to all ages and abilities, offering a relaxed, family-friendly way to get moving and enjoy the park.

Organizers say participants are welcome to run, jog or walk at their own pace, with the focus on having fun and spending time together in the community.

Registration opens Jan. 20 and runs through Feb. 12, with pre-registered participants guaranteed an event T-shirt. Race-day registration will also be available from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m., though shirts are not guaranteed for those who sign up that morning.

The entry fee is $25, with a $15 discounted rate for students. Medals will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place finishers in each age group, and all participants will receive chocolate at the finish line.

Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., giving participants a chance to get everything they need ahead of race day.

Supported by local organizations and sponsors, the Chocolate 5K Run/Walk is intended as an easygoing way to spend part of the holiday weekend, whether you’re chasing a time goal, walking with friends, or simply enjoying a sweet treat at the end.
