Kingsville police to bring back Blue Santa tradition for local neighborhoods

By Kingsville Independent News Staff

The Kingsville Police Department will once again bring holiday cheer to neighborhoods across the city through its annual Blue Santa Program, a long-running community initiative aimed at delivering gifts and goodwill to children during the holiday season.

As part of the program, officers dressed as Santa Claus and accompanied by marked police units will travel through various Kingsville neighborhoods, handing out toys to children who are outdoors at the time of the visit. The department said routes vary from year to year, allowing officers to reach different parts of the community.

Blue Santa arrives aboard the department’s Bearcat vehicle, followed by patrol units that help escort the holiday visit through neighborhoods.

Police officials emphasized that the program is designed to surprise families and create positive holiday memories, rather than operate through advance sign-ups.

“There is no list to be placed on,” the department noted, asking residents not to call the police department to request visits.

While officers make an effort to visit as many neighborhoods as possible, officials said it is not possible to reach every street or every child.

Toy donations still being accepted

The Kingsville Police Department is currently accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys to support the Blue Santa Program. Donations will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 19.

Toys may be dropped off at:

Kingsville Police Department
1700 E. King Ave.                                                                                                                                 Kingsville, TX

Community members interested in supporting the program are encouraged to donate ahead of the deadline to help ensure more children can be reached this holiday season.

A long-standing community tradition

The Blue Santa Program is part of the department’s broader efforts to connect with residents outside of enforcement roles and to support families during the holidays.

The department thanked residents and donors for their continued support of the program and its mission to spread holiday cheer throughout Kingsville.
