Kingsville received more than $523,000 in sales tax revenue this month as part of a statewide distribution to local governments, reflecting a significant increase compared to the same time last year.
According to data from the Texas Comptroller’s Office, the city received $523,505 in April, up about 24% from April 2025, when the city received $422,065.
The payments are based on sales made in February by businesses that report taxes monthly.
Kleberg County sees decrease
Kleberg County, meanwhile, received about $213,700 in sales tax revenue this month, a decrease of about 5.5% compared to April 2025.
Year-to-date totals for the county are also down slightly, with about $980,000 collected so far this year compared to just over $1.04 million during the same period last year.
Neighboring cities report increases
Nearby cities in the Coastal Bend saw more modest gains.
Corpus Christi received about $7.6 million in April, an increase of roughly 7.3% compared to last year, while Bishop reported an 8% increase, receiving just under $29,000.
Year-to-date totals increase for Kingsville
So far this year, Kingsville has received approximately $2.33 million in sales tax revenue, compared to about $2.11 million during the same period last year, an increase of just over 10%.
Part of broader statewide distribution
Across Texas, officials distributed $1.1 billion in local sales tax revenue in April, a 10.5% increase compared to the same month last year. Sales tax revenue is one of the primary sources of funding for cities and counties and supports services such as public safety, infrastructure and general operations.
