Local volunteers joined Keep Kingsville Beautiful on May 2 for a community cleanup effort at Los Hermanos Park in Kingsville as part of the statewide Trash Free Gulf campaign.

The cleanup was one of more than 60 projects organized across Texas this spring to help reduce litter and protect waterways that eventually connect to the Gulf. The campaign is presented by The Gulf Trust in partnership with H-E-B’s Our Texas, Our Future initiative.
Residents gathered at the park to help remove litter and debris while promoting environmental awareness and community involvement.

The local cleanup followed an earlier Kingsville Independent News story highlighting the statewide initiative and its focus on preventing trash from entering rivers, bays and coastal waters. Organizers previously noted that communities across Texas play a role in protecting the Gulf because waterways throughout the state are interconnected.
Photos shared by Trash Free Gulf following the event showed volunteers working throughout the cleanup area while collecting bags of litter and debris.

Organizers have encouraged Texans to continue participating in cleanup efforts and environmental stewardship projects throughout the year.
