KINGSVILLE — Animal Rescue Kleberg (ARK) received a $1,500 donation from Sparklight through the company’s new Connect for a Cause campaign, an initiative designed to support animal welfare organizations in communities served by the telecommunications provider.
According to Sparklight, the campaign donated a portion of proceeds from new Sparklight Mobile activations to participating animal shelters while introducing customers to the company’s mobile service.
Animal Rescue Kleberg was selected because of its work providing rescue, shelter, medical care and adoption opportunities for animals in the Kingsville area. Sparklight representatives also cited the organization’s affordable spay and neuter clinic, which helps reduce pet overpopulation and supports responsible pet ownership.
“Every day, ARK works to give vulnerable animals a second chance, providing rescue, shelter, medical care and opportunities for adoption,” said Ed Garcia, Sparklight field operations manager for South Central markets. “We’re proud to support an organization that makes such a meaningful difference here.”
The Connect for a Cause campaign launched this year and partnered with six animal welfare organizations across Sparklight service areas. According to the company, funding is intended to assist with shelter operations, animal care and adoption services.
Garcia said Sparklight views community involvement as an important part of its role beyond providing telecommunications services.
“At Sparklight, being a trusted community partner means more than delivering reliable connectivity,” Garcia said. “We believe strong communities are built through local investment, community involvement and support for organizations that make a difference.”
Community giving has been a longstanding part of Sparklight’s outreach efforts through donations, sponsorships, volunteer activities and grant programs. In Kingsville, the company has supported organizations including Lone Star Ranch Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and Kingsville Independent School District.
The company said it hopes the donation will help Animal Rescue Kleberg continue providing food, medical care and spay and neuter services while raising awareness of the organization’s work and encouraging additional community support.
Animal Rescue Kleberg, located at 225 E. Henrietta St., provides animal rescue, shelter and adoption services and operates a low-cost spay and neuter clinic serving the Kingsville area.
