What are the alternatives to Roth IRAs? Local session will explain

By Kingsville Independent News Staff

Kingsville residents interested in personal finance and retirement planning will have an opportunity to learn about alternative savings strategies during a Lunch and Learn scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 5 in downtown Kingsville.

The educational session, titled “The Roth IRA Alternative,” will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce located at 231 E. Kleberg Ave. Lunch will be provided for attendees.

The program will introduce participants to approaches outside of traditional Roth IRAs and explain how different savings strategies may support long-term financial goals, tax planning and flexibility in retirement planning. Organizers say the session is designed to be accessible and community-oriented, offering time for general questions in a relaxed setting.

The presentation will be led by Mathew Reed, financial coach with First Financial. The event is hosted through the local Extension network and coordinated by Kleberg County Extension Agent Emily-Rubene De Leon.

Why it matters:
Access to financial education remains uneven, especially for families and workers who do not have employer-sponsored retirement plans or who are navigating self-employment, small business ownership or nontraditional income. Community-based financial literacy programs can help residents compare options and make informed decisions about planning for the future.

Space is limited. To reserve a spot, contact De Leon at 361-246-2018 or emdeleon@pvamu.edu.
